DREAMS OF DAMNATION Add New Vocalist
January 2, 2002Los Angeles thrash metal act DREAMS OF DAMNATION, featuring former DARK ANGEL/current HIRAX axeman Jim Durkin, have added a new lead vocalist: Loana dP Valencia. Comented Durkin: "What can I say? We've been friends for a few years and I never even knew she sang. After hearing her at an impromptu jam session with us, I knew I had to have her in the band and would settle for nothing less. I've found another kindred spirit to work with who shares the same passion for old-school thrash metal as I do. I've been very lucky... Since joining the band, the creativity level has been off the hook! She's an asset to us in every aspect and is destined for great fame within the metal community for many years to come long after I'm gone. I cannot WAIT for the world to hear us now..." Added Loana: "All my years of daydreaming in front of a bathroom mirror with a hairbrush finally paid off [laughs]. I first met Jim after asking him to sign my DARK ANGEL albums and it's unbelievable that I get to work with this caliber of musicians from the get-go. Do you know how many people would KILL to work with Jim Durkin?!! Making music with him, Charlie [Silva, bassist], and Al [Mendez, drummer] is a GREAT honor. They're are all cut from the same piece of flesh as far as brutality is concerned."
DOD debuted to a ravenous reception at the Necropolis Records X-Mess Party in mid-December at The Covered Wagon in San Francisco, California with a set covering new & old material and even featuring a blistering rendition of DARK ANGEL's classic, "Merciless Deathâ. "I haven't played in San Francisco since 1988, so it was like coming home again," stated Jim. "The audience was a classic example of why we wanted to debut in the Bay Area among long-time family and friends."
DREAMS OF DAMNATION are currently working on material for their first full -length album, which is the follow-up to their 2000 EP Let The Violence Begin. They will be entering the studio in the spring with producer Bill Metoyer and plan appearances at European and North American metal festivals throughout 2002.
